Hospitals in Israel are in devastating conditions. Some hospitals are missing medical equipment or have old equipment. In the list of the top 40 developed countries, Israel is #39. Most hospitals have limited occupancy. In the latest report by Israeli Health Services from Feb 2005, several hospitals throughout Israel accept up to 140%-200% of people. The hospitals, clearly, overfill their occupancy limit. For instance, rooms with 3 beds would have 6 patients. Over-occupancy is a major health hazard and can increase the spread of disease. The State of Israel is in a national catastrophe after 30 years. Israel is standing, today, at the bottom of the list of developed countries for bed capacity; 2.18 beds for every 1000 people in comparison to 3.4 beds 30 years ago. Average yearly capacity for hospitals in Israel is 108% when, ideally, capacity for a department is between 80% and 85%. In other countries, such as Canada, hospitals will not accept sick people above 90% capacity. With your contribution we can help the Israeli hospitals develop and expand. Donations will also provide doctors with the necessary equipment. |
